LEED for Schools

The LEED Schools rating system is used for a company or school district whose intent is to conduct either a new construction or major renovation of an academic building that will be used to educate students in grades K-12 on a particular school ground. This rating system takes into account the fact that the materials and indoor environmental quality have to accommodate youth while maintaining healthy environment for them to participate in higher learning.  This rating system can also be used in building or renovating postsecondary buildings on college campuses or pre-kindergarten buildings. The builders have the option of using either LEED for Schools or LEED for New Construction due to the age groups of the people that will occupy the buildings.
